Pune team wins moot court competition
The fifth national Moot Court competition organised by Amity Law School concluded on Saturday. A total of 45 law colleges from across the country participated in the three-day event.
The two teams that reached the finals were New Law College, Bharti Vidhya Peeth, Pune and D. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, where Pune emerged as winners. The topic for the finals was Media Law. The participants from New Law College were Nistha Arora, Sunya Mudang, David Russell while Anusha Ramanathan, Himani Singh, Deepshri represented RML National Law University.

UoP proposes a whopping R 446.99 cr budget
The University of Pune (UoP) budget for 2012-13 has shot up to Rs
446.99 crore, a good Rs 62.16 crore over 2011-12, which was at Rs 384.83
crore.
Tabled before the UoP senate by Pandit Vidyasagar, the budget makes provisions of Rs 34.06 crore for student-centric activities.

PUNE University course on gender, culture and development studies
Those students and professionals who are interested in finding out how subjects of gender, culture and development are related can enroll for the master's programme in gender, culture and development studies.
Admissions will begin mid-June for the course run by the Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule Women's Studies Centre in the university. The course was launched a year ago by the Centre. Sharmila Rege, director, Women's Studies Centre, said: "It is different from other postgraduate courses in the social sciences and humanities, as it brings together the three fields of gender studies, culture studies and development studies into one cohesive postgraduate programme, thereby exploring the inter-linkages between the three.
The course content, pedagogical practices followed in the classroom, skills imparted, internships (all the students are offered block placements/internships in organisations involved in the social, media, and development sector) enhance career prospects."
The inter-disciplinary course would prove a value addition to professionals and students including academicians, researchers, media and management professionals, government employees engaged in women and child welfare, those working on development issues with NGOs, etc.

आखिरकार मारा गया ओसामा बिन लादेन
दुनिया के सबसे बड़े आतंकी कहे जाने वाले ओसामा बिन लादेन को आखिरकार अमेरिकी सेना ने मार गिराया है। पाकिस्तान की राजधानी इस्लामाबाद के पास ऐबटाबाद में एक पुरानी हवेली के भीतर छिपे बैठे लादेन को अमेरिकी सेना के जवानों ने शूट कर दिया। उसके सिर पर गोली मारी गई। अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति बराक हुसैन ओबामा ने पूरी दुनिया के सामने इसका ऐलान किया है।
ओबामा ने ऑपरेशन अफगानिस्तान की सफलता के लिए अपनी सेना को बधाई दी है, और लादेन के मारे जाने पर काफी खुशी जाहिर की है। ओबामा ने कहा कि बिना पाकिस्तान की मदद के यह मुमकिन नहीं था। सोमवार सुबह ही उन्होंने पाकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति आसिफ अली जरदारी से बात की और उनका शुक्रिया अदा किया। अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति ने साथ ही यह भी कहा कि हमारी लड़ाई इस्लाम के खिलाफ नहीं है।
कहा जा रहा है कि ओसामा की लाश अमेरिका के पास ही है। लादेन का मारा जाना अमेरिका की बड़ी जीत है, और इससे विश्व स्तर पर आतंकी गतिविधियों पर गहरी चोट होगी।
गौरतलब है कि अमेरिका में 9/11 हमले के पीछे ओसामा बिन लादेन के हाथ के बाद अमेरिका ने अफगानिस्तान पर हमला किया था और पिछले 10 साल से लगातार अफगानिस्तान के विभिन्न इलाकों में अमेरिका हमले कर अलकायदा के इस शीर्ष आतंकी को मारने की फिराक में था। उधर लादेन की मौत की खबर के बाद अमेरिकी लोग सड़कों पर जश्न मनाने उतर आए।

ओसामा की मौत के बाद बढ़ेगा आतंक?
अल कायदा जल्द से जल्द यह जाहिर करने की कोशिश करेगा कि वो अभी भी जिंदा है। लेकिन अमेरिका द्वारा ओसामा को मार गिराने और शव अपने कब्जे में ले लेने के बाद अल कायदा के लड़ाकों का मनोबल जरूर कम हुआ होगा।
11 सितंबर को ट्विन टॉवर पर हमले के बाद से ही अल कायदा के ढांचे में काफी बदलाव भी आया है। विशेषज्ञ मानते हैं कि ओसामा बिन लादेन के नेतृत्व में दुनिया भर के मुस्लमि कट्टरपंथी एकजुट थे। अल कायदा में मिस्त्र में पैदा हुए डॉक्टर अल जवाहिरी दूसरा सबसे ताकतवर सख्श है। ओसामा की मौत के बाद जवाहिरी के ही कमान संभालने की संभावना है।
जलां लादेन आतंक का चेहरा था वहीं जवाहिरी आतंक के पीछे का असली दिमाग है। लादेन अल कायदा का पोस्टर बॉय था लेकिन आतंक की साजिश जवाहिरी का दिमाग ही रचता था। पिछले महीने ही जारी किए गए एक वीडियो में जवाहिरी ने मुस्लिमों से नाटो और अमेरिकी सेनाओं पर हमले तेज करने का आह्वान किया था। यह वीडियो लीबिया पर कार्रवाई के बाद जारी हुआ था।
लादेन की तरह ही जवाहिरी भी बेहद अमीर परिवार में पैदा हुआ है। वो एफबीआई की मोस्ट वांटेड लिस्ट में लादेन के बाद दूसरे नंबर पर है। अब लादेन के बाद जवाहिरी ही इस लिस्ट में सबसे ऊपर है। 2001 में अफगानिस्तान से तालिबान के खात्मे के दौरान जवाहिरी बड़ी ही चालाकी से अमेरिका के शिकंजे से निकल गया था। 60 वर्षीय जवाहिरी के भी पाकिस्तान में छिपे होने की संभावना है।

जवाहिरी इंटरनेट पर वीडियो जारी कर अपने आंतकी संदेश का प्रसारण करता रहा है। हाल में उसने ऐसा ही वीडिया जारी कर दुनियाभर के मुसलमानों से लीबिया में अमेरिकी और नाटो की सेना के खिलाफ लड़ने का आह्वान किया।

इंटरनेट पर ओसामा की शक्ल से जुड़ती तस्वीर जारी हो गई है जिसके सिर पर गोलियों के निशान थे। हालांकि इस तस्वीर की आधिकारिक पुष्टि नहीं हुई है। ब्रिटिश अखबार ‘द टेलीग्राफ’ ने भी खबर दी है कि डीएनए जांच में ओसामा के शव की पुष्टि हो गई है।
