Pune University Teachers Association (Puta) and Pune University College Teachers’ Organisation (Pucto) have decided to boycott checking of papers.
Secretary of Puta, Arunkumar Walunj told DNA, “We have decided to boycott paper checking work for graduate and postgraduate courses of the University of Pune owing to our pending demands. These include arrears payment, implementation of 6th pay commission scales and exemption from NET and SET. Staff of unaided and social science colleges have joined us.”
“The state government and University of Pune (UoP) have taken no decision regarding payment of arrears to teachers who have been working in colleges for years together. These arrears are of different types and include the 6th pay commission and other incentives,” he said.
“Similarly, on three earlier occasions on August 16 and 26 last year and March 12 this year, the University Grants Commission reminded the state to exempt the teachers who have joined work between 1991 to 2000 from NET-SET examinations. But no decision has been taken.”
“In many colleges, the teachers have yet not received their salaries as per the recommendations of the 6th pay commission. It’s almost five years now that the 6th pay commission has come into effect, but yet teachers have not received their due,” he said.
